Infecciones estafilocóccicas severas en niños hospitalizados

Se estudiaron 23 niños hospitalizados con infecciones con Staphylococcus aureus coagulasa postivo. Se mostró que exitían entre estos pacientes algunas deficiencias en la prueba NBT, niveles de C3 del complemento y la transformación de linfocitos. La influencia de desnutrición, inmunoglobulinas, hierro sérico y la capacidad de fijación de hierro en suero no fue aparente. Se sugieren estudios adicionales sobre funcionales de inmunidad celular. Revisión de los antibiogramas sugirió un plan racional para iniciar tratamiento con antibióticos.
