Desinfectantes hospitalarios: cómo evaluarlos y propuesta para estandarizar su valoración.
Main Article Content
Since November 1990 and June 1991, three times with three months of intervals, nine different disinfectants in use at the Rafael Uribe Uribe Clinic, ISS-Valle in Calt, Colombia, were studied for their antimicrobial activity against Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa with a new method comprising a combination of minimal inhibitory concentration, mortality curve, and neutralization tests. The results show that the technique in evaluation found inactivity in one disinfectant that by a conventional system (mortaltty curve) was not selected. The new method deserves more evaluations for a routine test in Colombia.
