El APGAR familiar en el cuidado primario de salud

Abstract

La familia como sistema juega un papel importante no sólo en el proceso generador de la enfermedad sino en el proceso de su rehabilitación, en la medida en que cumpla con sus funciones básicas. El APGAR familiar es un instrumento diseñado para evaluar el funcionamiento sistémico de la familia, y es útil en la identificación de familias a riesgo. El instrumento se ha validado en diferentes comunidades norteamericanas, asiáticas e hispanas, ofrece una correlación alta con pruebas especializadas. En el presente artículo se revisan los antecedentes históricos en su empleo, métodos de aplicación, y su utilidad para el cuidado primario en salud.
