La administración de dosis bajas de oxitocina, previa a la succión, no modifica la respuesta eyectoláctea en madres lactantes

Abstract

Se analizaron 64 registros de presión intramamaria en igual número de mujeres lactantes, que aceptaron participar en diferentes estudios diseñados para explorar la respuesta eyectoláctea a la succión del pezón. Después de aplicar estrictos criterios de inclusión diseñados para este estudio restrospectivo, se logró separar un grupo control y 2 grupos experimentales. Se estudiaron la latencia, el número de contracciones mamarias, el área bajo las mismas y la cantidad calculada de oxitocina liberada por estímulos de succión de 10 minutos de duración. No se encontraron diferencias estadísticamente significativas entre las respuestas mamarias de las pacientes que no recibieron oxitocina (grupo control), las que la recibieron (grupo experimental-1) y las que presentaron actividad eyectoláctea espontáneas antes de la succión (grupo experimental-2).
