Remarks on some Lutzomyia sandflies (Diptera: Psychodidae) in three outbreaks of cutaneous leishmaniasis in western Colombia
Main Article Content
Phlebotomine sand flies (Lutzomyia) were identified in three cutaneous leishmaniasis foci of western Colombia: Inguapí del Guadual (Tumaco, Nariño), Bajo Calima (Buenaventura, Valle del Cauca), and Villa Hermosa (Dagua, Valle). 19 Nariño sites and 15 in Valle del Cauca were surveyed; 29 and 14 species were obtained, respectively.
At Inguapí del Guadual 18 Lutzomyia species were collected; four of them (L. trapidoi, L. panamensis, L. gomezi and L. hartmanni) were also found at Bajo Calima. Lutzomyia gorbitzi was captured for the first time at Inguapí, a new record for Colombia.
