Pacific spastic paraparesis
Main Article Content
Neurological symptoms of 69 patients with Pacif Spastic Paraparesis (PSP), a previously unknown disease in Colombia, are described. The clinical picture is found only in adults of both sexes residing in the Pacific lowlands. Most of the PSP patients diagnosed to date came from the Tumaco area, but other cases have also been identified in several localities on the Pacific coast. Ecological aspects, as well as physiopathological characteristics and therapeutic considerations, are discussed.
