Severe sleep disorders in children and early hyperkinetic behavior

Sleep disorders in infants are a rather common pediatric problem. Clear differentiation between neurological and psychopathological causes is the critical clue for successful management. Two cases of severe insomnia followed over several months seem to sustain the hypothesis that infantile insomnia may be the first manifestation of hyperkinesis and minimal brain dysfunction syndrome.
