Congenital hip dysplasia is a serious pathological condition of the coxofemoral joint, present in many countries. The relative position of the articular components as a mechanical and etiological agent is analyzed. Since the coxofemoral lesions due to this mechanical factor are so varied, the denomination of congenital dysplasia does not cover all of them. Consequently, in this paper, the name Ortolani-Barlow disease is proposed.
