Evaluation of the nursing professional's curriculum. A participatory research experience
Main Article Content
The undergraduate nursing curriculum of the Universidad del Valle, Cali, Colombia, was evaluated from 1986 to 1989, with the participation of faculty, alumni, students, and employers. This evaluation was designed to give the greatest possible importance to the suggestions of all participants regarding the solutions outlined. The curriculum committee of the nursing school was evaluated in 3 phases. In phase I, the disadvantages of integrated curriculum at the undergraduate level were identified. In phase II, the responses to a list of value judgments comprised 12 total agreements, 49 partial agreements, and 91 slight agreements. In phase III, 25 alternative solutions were obtained from the total agreements, of which 6 were assigned priority to be implemented by the groups responsible. The experience allowed me to identify aspects of the curriculum that should be addressed in the short, medium, and long terms.
